A good barn frame with uncommon configuration. Pine hand hewn timbers.
Built in 1835 on the Ancaster - Dundas Road near Hamilton, Ontario.

|
This barn was originally constructed with a full height center section measuring 30 x 40. On each end of this center section was a lean-to measuring 14 x 30. These parts of the barn were built at the same time as the center section. However late in the 19th century the building was modified such that the lean-to sections became full height with a pitched roof. Very little of the original fabric was damaged in this process. Included in the price is the reconstruction of the frame as it was originally configured - with the full height 30x40 center section and a 14x30 lean-to at each end.
The photos also show some changes that were made to the center section of the frame. In each of the two middle bents the upper tie beams were removed and installed at a lower height. The restoration of these bents is also included in the price.
Price: $82,000 (includes repair, cleaning, and reconstruction of the frame as originally configured)
